Sarah is a partner in our Edinburgh office and a member of the litigation team.

An experienced litigator, Sarah’s practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation. Her experience includes advising global banks, multinational pharmaceutical firms, and public sector bodies on a wide range of contentious matters, including multi-jurisdictional conspiracy cases, judicial reviews, professional negligence claims, and major public inquiries.

Sarah regularly undertakes advocacy in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and is experienced in alternatively dispute resolution, having represented clients at mediations.

Experience:

  • Acted on behalf of a global bank in an £85 million multi-jurisdictional unlawful means conspiracy case at the Court of Session, involving 12 defenders.
  • Acted on behalf of two Danish limited partnerships in conjoined professional negligence actions at the Court of Session, with a combined value of £1.5 million
  • Advising an international pharmaceutical company on Scottish aspects of wider group litigation strategy in connection with group actions arising out of GLP-1 weight loss drugs, including resisting a personal injury claim.
  • Led legal teams in two major public inquiries on behalf of a national airport, opposing four proposed windfarm developments, including a super inquiry that considered three applications over a two-year period
  • Part of team instructed by the Ministry of Defence in connection with the UK Government Covid-19 inquiry.
  • Part of the team instructed by the Department for Business and Trade to facilitate the Group Litigation Order (GLO) Compensation Scheme to fairly compensate postmasters affected by the Post Office scandal
  • Represented Mainstream Renewable Power in a Judicial Review challenging the Scottish Government’s Scotwind lease award decision – with the case progressing from lodging petition to substantive hearing in 10 days.
  • Provided ongoing pro bono advice to an international gymnastics’ charity, advising on safeguarding issues and advocating for members who have faced abusive coaching practices.
  • Represented the Equality Network, as an interested party, on a pro bono basis in high-profile Judicial Review proceedings raised by For Women Scotland.
